(Portland, Oregon)…The newest addition to radio’s AM dial is giving Portland radio listeners something to laugh about as the station flips to an all comedy format with the name Johnson 970, Your Comedy Club. Beginning at noon today, KCMD AM will become the 105th affiliate of All Comedy Radio, the Hollywood-based entertainment radio network, announced the station’s Vice President/General Manager Mark Walen. Johnson 970 will deliver comedy programming 24 hours a day, including stand-up routines, interview segments with touring and superstar comedians, parody songs and topical bits. The segments are hosted by Comedy Jocks (CJs, as they’re being called), including Kerrie Casem, who is the daughter of legendary radio host, Casey Kasem.
Comedy bits and stand-up routines from the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, Robin Williams and Eddie Murphy are just a small sample of what’s to come on the all new Johnson 970. 80s television sitcom star Gary Coleman hosts an advice segment. Dennis Miller and Bill Maher weigh in with their political humor. Ray Romano, Rodney Dangerfield and Ellen Degeneres are featured players. Everybody who’s anybody in the world of comedy are part of this amazing line-up.
“We’re excited to add a new dimension to the Portland radio dial,” commented Walen. “Talk radio dominates the AM band in this market, however All Comedy Radio provides a unique and compelling alternative to our listeners as well as our advertisers. We’re glad to be giving people something to laugh about, for a change.”
KCMD-AM is owned and operated by Infinity Broadcasting, one of the largest radio operators in the United States with 184 radio stations reaching more than 70 million listeners a week. Infinity also owns and operates KUFO, KVMX, KINK, KLTH and KUPL in the Portland market.
